For red-green visual impairment:
The advantage of ONYX and BW Picture tubes with their "black/white“ Image representation consists in the fact that people with red-green visual impairment can perceive the image better than with a green (P22) or green-yellow (P43) tube with the same performance parameters. This is not an advantage for people with normal vision, but the image is often perceived as more natural and is therefore becoming increasingly popular with "normal-sighted people".

Of course, all devices offered as new have brand new picture tubes installed. They are also protected against lightning and shock. A data sheet with the original measured values from Photonis is supplied with each device.

NV MAU CIS:
The NV MAU GUS is manufactured exclusively in this form by the company Dipol. Its performance in the "Select" version is outstanding and the picture is virtually optically pure. The picture tubes have the highest possible performance standard that Dipol is allowed to export to Germany. Available with green-yellowish (P43) screen or in the BW version. The BW stands for Black & White and, like the ONYX picture tubes, has a grey-monochrome picture display. These tubes are also available as a "standard" version. These are tubes with more cosmetic defects and lower performance. No data sheet is included with the GUS devices. But we guarantee that the devices always meet the minimum specification when you buy them. Of course, the performance parameters are usually higher.

Generation 3 cathode (no US production):
We also offer devices with "real" Generation 3 image intensifiers. Unlike normal Photonis or GUS picture tubes, these have a GaAs photocathode, which is particularly sensitive to light. Due to the technical structure, the performance values of the photocathode cannot be compared directly with those of a photonic tube. So 700µA/lm from Photonis are comparable with approx. 1800µA/lm with Gen.3. Incidentally, Generation 3 picture tubes have been manufactured for over 30 years and are not a new invention. And there are also huge performance differences with Generation 3 tubes. Of course, tubes of older design are not comparable with the modern Gen. 3 tubes. Due to the strong development work by Photonis, one has to say today that modern generation 2 tubes can keep up well with generation 3. Which tube generation the customer chooses is of course ultimately up to him.

P22

P43

Onyx and BW

Gen.2S CIS

usually with a very clean picture, a little less contrast than with Photonis picture tubes.

Gen.2S Photonis

Usually a little more spots or other image errors than Gen.2S GUS, a little more contrast than with Gen.2S GUS picture tubes.

XX1941 SuperGen Photonis

fewer spots or other image errors than Gen.2S Photonis, slightly more contrast and clearer image display than Gen.2S Photonis.

ECHO Photonis

usually fewer spots or other image errors than XX1941 SuperGen, Photonis has no spots in the center.

Image quality comparison

without or with manual brightness control, Ultra means Photonis picture tube with brightness control. The DN37 also has brightness control but GUS picture tubes.
