GEN III (3rd generation)
The GEN 3 night vision devices are based on PVS-7 goggles. The technique uses the Gen II system, but now uses a gallium arsenide photocathode, resulting in higher image resolution. In addition, the devices have a longer service life. Disadvantages is the halo effect, which creates a kind of glow in bright areas. In addition, the devices require more power. The light can be amplified by 30.000x to 50.000x.
