What is Photonis glass-glass technology?

These picture tubes have a flat glass exit and are absolutely distortion-free.
This can be an advantage, especially with night vision attachments. With this technology, higher effective resolutions can also be achieved than with tubes with fiberglass outlets.
Photonis initially only developed this tube technology for the NiteSpot 50 military night vision attachment, which was then built under Vectronix in Switzerland. Later, this type of picture tube was also installed in the Zeiss/Hensoldt NSV600 and NSV1000 attachments. These devices are also used by the Bundeswehr, among others. In the NV MAU Ultra / DN34 Ultra we install picture tubes that are exactly the same as those from the NSV600 and NSV1000 devices. The specifications are tailored to the civilian or hunting sector and can be purchased with a power of up to FOM 1800. Our designations for these tubes are Gen.2 HDGG and ECHO HDGG. Incidentally, it is not about "cheap glass-glass" technology, as is sometimes wrongly claimed, but about high-quality special tubes from the European market leader Photonis.
